Mobile Lab 1 – Korea
Delivery of a fully equipped FluxSense Mobile Lab to the National Institute of Environmental Research in South Korea.
Mission
FluxSense won a bid to deliver a Mobile Lab for emission measurements and concentration mapping (leak search) of a range of VOCs (alkanes, alkenes, BTEX) and other gases related to air pollution and global warming (methane, NO2, SO2, formaldehyde). The project was done in cooperation with our Korean partner BK Instruments Inc (BKI) and the end customer was the National Institute of Environmental Research, NIER.
The contract includes hardware and software for the Mobile Lab, including assembly, commissioning and training in Korea. Four FluxSense instrument systems; MeDOAS, SkyDOAS, MeFTIR and SOF, were installed plus associated equipment such as valves, pumps, computers and software, complete with a wind mast + logger and an electrical power system. All equipment was installed in a customized Hyundai Solati on site.
Result
NIER received their Mobile Lab October 2020 and their personnel immediately received intense hands-on field training at the Daesan industrial complex under guidance of our experts. NIER did their own first measurement campaign two weeks later. The vehicle was purchased and modified by BKI to be ready for instrumentation assembly in August 2020 - installation and initial testing started the same month.
The FluxSense Mobile Lab will expand NIER's existing range of instrumentation to monitor emissions, map concentrations in real-time and evaluate emission reduction measures from different industries in the Republic of Korea.
