Mobile Lab Colorado
A fully equipped Mobile Lab delivered to CDPHE in Denver, Colorado, 2021
The Mission
FluxSense was contracted to build and deliver a custom Mobile Lab for emission measurements, trace gas concentration mapping, and leak search for the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). The MOOSE (Mobile Oil/gas Optical Sensor of Emissions), as it was named to, was fitted with FluxSense’s four flagship instrument systems; MeDOAS, SkyDOAS, MeFTIR and SOF, in addition to the fully custom electrical system that powers the lab and ensures continuous measurements in the field.
After delivery of the MOOSE in August 2021, CDPHE personnel were trained on the capabilities of the instruments as well as their operation. CDPHE is continuously supported by FluxSense staff to ensure they can measure a range of VOCs (alkanes, alkenes, BTEX) and other gases related to air pollution and global warming (methane, NO2, SO2, formaldehyde) throughout Colorado in real-time.
All equipment was installed in a customized Ford Transit-250 equipped with 4-wheel drive to continue measuring during Colorado winters.
